Problem
6 out of 10 people in Latin America do not know the ingredients of the product or do not understand the impact they would have on their body. Furthermore, 70% of people believe that product information is misleading. Consumers struggle daily to find food options that fit their dietary preferences, nutritional requirements, and health goals due to unclear food labels. Identifying suitable products is a time-consuming process that is frustrating, increasing the risk of mistakes and potential health issues.
These consumers need to obtain information about ingredients in a simple, quick, and personalized manner, and this requires smart design. Two major user groups were identified. On one hand, we have those who have a dietary restrictions, whether it be allergies, intolerances, etc., that prevent them from eating certain foods. On the other hand, we have those with dietary preferences by choice, among which vegetarianism, veganism, keto diets, etc. can be found.
Solution
An application that contains a database with a big amount of packaged food products, allowing the user to create a profile based on their preferences and restrictions. Once created, the user will be able to access the two main functionalities of the app: on one hand, they can easily search for products with specific features through filters, and on the other, when shopping, they can scan a product's barcode and obtain information about how well it matches their profile.
